Mexico has many wonderful cooking schools today and they are turning out many fine young chefs of enormous talent.  When they apply their very sophisticated cooking techniques to traditional Mexican themes, an exquisite Mexican cuisine has emerged which is a far cry from the enchiladas, tacos, beans and rice so traditionally associated with food south of the border.  Chef Oscar Galvan, who studied at Ambrosia, one of Mexico’s superb culinary academies, is going to please and delight everyone by providing them the opportunity to sample this unique modern gastronomic treasure – “La Gran Comida”.

Open 6:00 to 11:00 pm. Closed on Tuesdays. El Arrayan serves traditional Mexican cuisine paired with pleasant service. The Arrayan tree sits just outside the open kitchen of this hacienda styled restaurant. Start with an order of sumptuous plantain fritters filled with black beans, or an unusual salad of diced nopal cactus paddles with fresh cheese. Favorite main courses include their tacos filled with prime beef filet, or a Mexican duck confit, served in an arrayán-orange sauce. The excellent service is a plus to this can't-miss dining experience.

Puerto Vallarta’s most famous gourmet restaurant now has 3 restaurants in one location.  We especially enjoy the pumpkin and prawn soup as an appetizer and the duckling as a main course.  Desserts are great!  Beautiful presentation by French chef Thierry Blouet – almost like France.  Reservations are important and we suggest you request seating in the garden.  Live dinner music with piano and flute.

This downtown restaurant is right on the Malecon and has been around for years.  It’s a great spot to stop for breakfast or lunch when you are downtown shopping.  If you eat in the bar, you can order the little tacos, which makes a great light lunch, but they don’t serve them in the dining room.  Good Mexican food and great avocado soup.

Very nice atmosphere.  Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but we prefer it for lunch.  Live piano music.  Closed on Sundays.
